Marketing and Strategy

The Marketing and Strategy section is one of the most established in its subject area in Europe, with an enviable research track record.

Being home to more than 30 international academics with a variety of backgrounds, interests and methodological approaches, the Section embodies a unique combination of broad and deep expertise.  The main research themes of the Section centre on marketing strategy, strategic management and marketing management but extend to a wider range of topics including:

The research conducted by the Marketing and Strategy Section is translated into practical tools that managers and public policy makers use to make better decisions, provides thought leadership to the academic community, inspires research-led teaching and contributes to societal understanding of the changing business environment at local, national and international levels.

We are actively engaged with the academic and business worlds by mobilising resources, people and collaborations to and from Cardiff Business School. These activities include:

  • Successful research fund-raising from private and public sectors
  • Supervision of a significant number of new doctoral students every year
  • Hosting of high-calibre international visiting professors from overseas
  • A distinguished guest-speaker seminar series
  • Active engagement and networking with the most prominent academic and professional associations in the UK, Europe and the United States
  • A growing network of international research collaborators
  • A biennial Marketing and Strategy Research Summer Camp

Student scholarship underpins community engagement initiative

Last week (25 January 2017) a new community project, encouraging people to shop locally, and supported by Cardiff University, was launched in Grangetown.

Businesses in the Cardiff suburb of Grangetown will work together to benefit from training, advice and networking opportunities.

Travel boss kicks of Entrepreneurship seminar series

Cardiff Business School’s 2016/17 Entrepreneurship Seminar Series will get underway next week, giving students and staff from across the University the opportunity to hear from local and national entrepreneurs.

The Entrepreneurship Seminar Series was established in 2015 by academics from the Business School’s Marketing & strategy section.
