Cardiff Business School's International Advisory Board advises the School's senior management on its strategic direction. The Board's inaugural meeting took place on the 4th June 2008.

Mr Raj Aggarwal OBE, DL

Managing Director, RK Aggarwal Ltd

Raj Aggarwal is a Community Pharmacist and Managing Director of Aggarwal Group. Raj studied at the Welsh School of Pharmacy, graduating in 1972.  He was in senior management with Boots plc until 1983, managing large stores throughout the country and is a Board Member of National Pharmacy Association and Community Pharmacy Wales.

Matt Appleby

Director, BITC Cymru

Matt joined BITC Cymru as Director in July 2016 from one of Wales’ most successful communications consultancies, Golley Slater.

Ms Sharanne Basham-Pyke

Shad Consultancy

Sharanne is the Director of Shad Consultancy Ltd providing professional business advice to the private, public and third sectors. She also has a portfolio career as a Business Angel to a number of small businesses that range from start-ups to established organisations but all with a common theme – the desire to grow.

Helen held senior roles in membership organisation the NHS Confederation for five and a half years - latterly in the role of group director of external affairs and before that as director of the Welsh NHS Confederation.

Bethan is a highly rated solicitor with over twenty five years experience, specialising in employment and corporate law. She is a partner at small commercial law firm Thompson Darwin, based in Cardiff.

Mr Rhodri Talfan Davies

Director, BBC Cymru Wales

Rhodri Talfan Davies was appointed Director of BBC Cymru Wales in September 2011 after a career spanning journalism, interactive television development and marketing.

In his role, he oversees all BBC programming produced for Wales, including BBC Radio Wales, BBC Radio Cymru and extensive television output for S4C, BBC One Wales and BBC Two Wales. 

Mr Geraint Davies CBE FCA

Non Exec Director, Mears Plc, Cardiff International Airport Ltd

Geraint Davies was a partner in Grant Thornton for 25 years before retiring in June 2013. He now acts as a non-exec for a number of businesses – Mears, which is a FTSE 350 company and Cardiff Airport, owned by Welsh Government. Geraint is also retained as an advisor for several other private companies.

Simon Is Chief Executive of Wesley Clover, an investment fund with interests in Technology, Commercial Real Estate and Leisure Resorts. He is also the founder and Chairman of the Alacrity Foundation, a graduate entrepreneurship programme which provides a post graduate eduction in entrepreneurship and commercialisation, alignment with opportunities and access to capital.

Mr Simon Jones

Marie Curie

Formerly Chair of Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust, his experience in the Welsh NHS, began in serving on South Glamorgan in 1989 and then Bro Taf Health Authority as a member, Vice Chair and Chair for the last three years of its existence. Appointed Chair of Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust in April 2003. He was elected Chair of the NHS Wales Confederation in November 2006.

Mr Roger Lewis

Chair, International Advisory Board and Cardiff Airport

Roger Lewis is the Chair of Cardiff Airport, appointed by the Welsh Government in 2015. Over a forty year career he has held a number of senior positions in the media, music and sporting sectors, including Group Chief Executive of the WRU and Millennium Stadium, Managing Director of ITV Wales, Managing Director and Programme Controller of Classic FM, and a Board Director of its parent company GWR plc, a Managing Director at EMI Records, President of the Decca Record Company and Head of the BBC Radio 1 Music Department.

Hywel has enjoyed senior leadership roles at leading global and national brands such as Serco, Virgin, NCR, Grant Thornton and Target where he fulfilled UK and EMEA positions in General Management, Sales and Marketing.

Subsequently he has founded a number of successful businesses, two of which he nurtured and then exited.

Mr Peter Marissen

Admiral Group

Peter is International Pricing Director for the Admiral Group. His mathematics background led him to working in cryptography in Paris, before completing an MBA at Insead. Peter then joined Admiral in 1999 as the head of Pricing in the UK. He is a director of the Group’s two European regulated insurers (Admiral Insurance Gibraltar and Admiral Insurance Company).

Peter has over 20 years’ experience of senior level coaching, management development, executive selection and team building.

Mr David Morpeth

David has over 20 years' in-depth experience of consumer credit. He is a very effective leader of large-scale, multi-site operational business units and has demonstrated his ability to develop and execute practical and complex strategies, including the integration of Bank of Scotland's motor finance business into Lloyds TSB Asset Finance.

MM Global Strategy and Implementation Manager, Shell International Petroleum Company

Linda Phillips is a graduate of UWIST (1983) BSc (Tech) Hons, Maritime Studies (International Transport)] and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. 

Mr Ian Price

Deputy Director, CBI Wales

Ian joined the CBI as Assistant Director in September 2005; his role in the CBI involves supporting Welsh business and assisting CBI membership with local and national government interface. 

Sir Donald Walters

Cardiff University

Sir Donald Walters was born in Swansea but has lived most of his life in Cardiff. He holds an LLB from London University (LSE) and is a Barrister at Law. He practiced law in Cardiff for 11 years before entering business.

Professor Sir Adrian Webb

Non-Executive Director, Welsh Government, Non-Executive Director Big Lottery Fund UK and Welsh Chair, Chair, PPIW, Governor, Atlantic College, Chair Education Committee

Professor Sir Adrian Webb was academic from 1966 to 1993 at the London School of Economics and Loughborough University. During his academic career he published 17 books/monographs and contributed numerous chapters/articles to other works.
