Cardiff Business School this week played host to a thought provoking and inspiring talk from Helen Brand, CEO of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and Emma Watkins, Director of CBI Wales. The focus of the gathering was on women in leadership and removing barriers to increase diversity in senior positions.

Operations Analytics students eligible for new award

The newly introduced Operations Analytics module, which forms part of the Masters programme in Logistics and Operations Management, will this year reward the best performing student (judged by the final mark obtained for the module). The winner will receive US$100 and a one year student membership to the International Institute of Forecasters.

World class centre opens for tomorrow’s business leaders

A £14.5m world class centre for teaching and training tomorrow’s global business leaders has opened (29 September 2014) at Cardiff Business School.

The state-of-the-art learning and teaching hub provides high-tech lecture theatres, executive study zones and a high-tech ‘trading room’ to attract the very best business students from around the world.

BSc Business Management alumna Lucie Troop recently presented at Panalpina's global logistics meeting in Dubai.

Lucie, a final year student at the time, is the second  student to have been invited to this meeting as part of the Panalpina Award.  For this competition, our students identify trends that will have an impact on industry supply chains and logistics.

School Dean’s visit strengthens links with Hong Kong

In June 2014 Professor Martin Kitchener, Dean of Cardiff Business School, travelled to Hong Kong. He was joined on this trip by Professor Kent Matthews, Sir Julian Hodge Professor of Banking and Finance, and Rhys Evans, Partnership Development Manager. As well as attending business meetings, the trio hosted an alumni event at the prestigious Banker’s Club.

PhD student gets published in the Journal of Marketing Management

PhD student Jemma Oeppen recently had her first academic article published in the Journal of Marketing Management. Jemma worked alongside Dr Ahmad Jamal, Senior Lecture in Marketing and Strategy, to write 'Collaborating for Success: managerial perspectives on co-branding strategies in the fashion industry'.
