Investment management is a perennially hot topic, both among finance academics and practitioners. Subjects like the equity risk premium, the relative attractions of stock and bonds, how to cope with volatility, and so forth are widely discussed in the academic literature as well as in the specialist and non-specialist press. At the same time, while the academic sector generates a considerable volume of relevant research, much of it is conducted with relatively little input from the profession.
The Investment Management Research Unit (IMRU) was established in November 2005 by Professor Laurence Copeland of Cardiff Business School and visiting Professor Gerald Holtham, Managing Partner of Cadwyn Capital LLP as Co-Directors, with the aim of bridging the gap between practitioners and scholars. Based at the Cardiff University Business School (CARBS), but funded by external public and private sector institutions, IMRU seeks to provide:
