Andrew is involved in a number of projects within the Cardiff University Innovative Manufacturing Research Centre, including the flagship project Mass Customised Collaborative Logistics for Sustained Manufacture (McCLOSM) and the Pipeline Logistics Improve Project (PLIP). This latter project is looking at how capsule pipelines, as an innovative future mode of transport, could be used within the UK.
He is also involved in the EPSRC funded Green Logistics project, looking at ways of improving the environmental performance of logistics systems without impacting on economic performance. This project involves collaboration with 5 other leading UK universities.
An underlying theme to all the research is the integration of transport into supply chains, given the dynamic behaviour that exists within transport. This formed the basis for his PhD thesis, which was awarded a Highly Commended award in the 2nd Annual EFMD/Emerald Outstanding Doctoral Research Awards in 2006.
