I received my MPhil (1990) and PhD (1993) from Glasgow University. I was a Central Banker but took academic career by joining the Department of Economics, University of Wales Swansea, as a Lecturer in 1996. I was made a Professor of Economics at Brunel University in 2001. I rejoined the School of Business and Economics, Swansea University in January 2005 as a Professor of Finance and I moved to Cardiff University as a Professor of Economics in September 2006.
