CAIR has a flexible membership in order to respond to requirements for individual projects. CAIR has a core staff of four people, as follows: Directors: Dr Paul Nieuwenhuis and Dr Peter Wells, and Mr Clovis Zapata and Mr Gavin Harper, both also linked with the BRASS centre.

To this can be added members of teaching staff from the various sections within the Business School, as well as other departments, as and when required. The following have contributed to CAIR projects: Dr John Bridge, from the Economics Section. Other members of staff engage in research of various aspects of the automotive sector and regular contact with them enhances CAIR's role. Some of these also contribute to CAIR projects from time to time. Among them are Dr Anthony Beresford, as well as members of the Lean Enterprise Research Centre and the Welsh Economy Research Centre with interests in the automotive sector. Dr Paul Nieuwenhuis and Dr Peter Wells are also founder members of the Centre for Business Relationships, Accountability, Sustainability and Society (BRASS)
